SemDems March 2022 Activist of the Month

Brittany N.

  • Our Activist for the month of March 2022 is no stranger to most SemDems members. Brittany N.* has served in a number of SemDems leadership positions. She grew up locally, on the east side of Orlando/Winter Park, just about a mile from Seminole County. Her mother was an IT professional and her father teaches insurance licensing classes and also worked in sales and the restaurant industry for a long time too.

Brittany attended Orange County Public Schools and then earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from the University of Florida (Warrington College of Business). Brittany works in real estate doing digital marketing project management. She is engaged to her loving fiancé Lee, and they plan to get married in November, after the election.

  • Brittany first became involved with the SemDems in January 2017, after living in California for 4 years. She says, “I couldn’t vote in Florida in 2016 and felt helpless.” So, she dove in and started attending meetings and protests and wanted to see where she could make the biggest impact. She realized that the Seminole County Democratic Party needed her help and skills. Thereafter, she dedicated every (non-day job) waking moment to our movement. She quickly became SemDems’ Communications Chair, then Vice Chair, then Chair of the County Party.
  • Brittany says she became involved because she wanted to make the biggest impact she could. “I hated waking up the day after the 2016 election and feeling like I could have done more,” she bemoans. So, she put all her energy into supporting Democrats’ efforts in Seminole County from 2017 onwards, and her efforts were rewarded with Seminole County changing from being a Trump red county – to the County going blue - first for Andrew Gillum in 2018, then for Biden in 2020. She exclaims, “We made history in 2020 – with Seminole County going blue for the first time since 1948!”
  • After her role as SemDems Chair was completed, she remained active. She is currently on the board for the Rainbow SemDems, and she assists with Communications, Fundraising, and in an advisory role as part of the SemDems Past Chairs’ Council. She also loves knocking on doors and diving in during early voting. She says, “There is nothing quite as rewarding as providing a voter the information they have been hoping for.”

Brittany indicates that her favorite part of working with the SemDems is the people. “I’ve made some great friendships over the past 6 years, and know that many of these individuals will be in my life for a long time to come,” she shares. When not volunteering for the SemDems, or planning her wedding, Brittany says she is an avid reader and also knits and crochets. Crafting and baking are some of her favorite things to do when she has the time. The SemDems has benefitted greatly from Brittany’s organizational skills, warm personality, and determination! We expect much from this young woman in the future!
