Congratulations to our July Activist of the Month—Charlene Thompson!

The life-long Democrat grew up in Indiana with her parents and three siblings. She comes from a Midwest heritage, with her father being a meat cutter and her mom a waitress and then a Certified Nurses Assistant. Charlene herself is a retired nurse, following her mother’s calling. Charlene is married to a retired pharmacist and they have a son and a daughter, and four grandchildren! They have been residents of Florida for 32 years, after having transferred down from Indianapolis to escape the frigid Midwest winters.

Charlene enjoys supporting the SemDems and she can be found writing postcards, decorating masks with Democrats’ motifs and supporting local and national Democratic candidates. She enjoys the friendships she has made and the camaraderie that comes with a sense of purpose. She is working to keep Seminole Blue during the 2020 election. Charlene and her husband have enjoyed traveling across the United States, some cruises, and a couple of trips to Europe. She also volunteers at a food pantry and does mentoring at a school where her daughter teaches first grade, plus various other volunteer causes. Lately, due to COVID-19, she has been catching up on her reading.

Thank you for your hard work, Charlene! It is volunteers like you that are helping to make a difference in Seminole County!
