Monday Jan 20, 2025 his very first day in office, Donald Trump issued 26 Executive Orders, by far the largest amount ever signed by a President on day one. This is a profound overreach of Executive Branch power, one that is quantifiably unhinged in its lack of historical precedent.
We don’t have the space to go over every single one of them in detail, but there are some that we find especially outrageous.
One, in particular, is the blatantly racist and un-American repeal of birthright citizenship, which is clearly enshrined in the very first sentence of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution in 1868.
Another involves the classification of a large amount of protected civil servant jobs into what the Trump Administration calls “Schedule F” positions, which essentially classify these jobs as political appointments to be fired and replaced at will with MAGA loyalists, regardless of merit or competence.
Both of these orders pose the most direct threat to the democratic foundations of the United States, but there are more that are just as problematic.
One withdraws the United States from the World Health Organization. Yes, you read that correctly: The World Health Organization. Another seeks to open up our coastlines to even more environmental catastrophes brought about by offshore oil drilling. He’s even repealing remote work agreements in the federal workforce, a move surely meant to encourage mass resignations that will lead to the appointment of even more Trump loyalists at all levels of government.
And that was just the first day. The FIRST day!
If this is any indication of what’s to come in the next four years, we are confident that voters in Seminole County will soon find themselves eager for a change in local and statewide leadership in the 2026 midterm elections, one that sends a clear message to Washington, and to the MAGA Republicans currently in office. We are sick of the lies, the corruption, and the unconstitutional abuse of government power by Trump’s Republican Party.
And the Sem Dems will be working tirelessly these next two years to give our voters the change they deserve.
