On Saturday the 21st, about thirty-five vehicles took to the streets of Seminole County for the Kamala Car Parade under the leadership of organizer Sue Jenik. While the parade’s namesake is the current vice president and the Democratic nominee, drivers decorated their vehicles to support not only her presidential ticket with Governor Tim Walz but various other Democratic candidates and issues that will be on the ballot when early voting starts on October 21st.
Before the parade rolled out, Jenik welcomed everyone, then Sarah Henry, Democratic candidate for State House District 38, encouraged the group to keep up their active participation in our political process.
The parade wove its way through the streets of Sanford and to the farmer’s markets in both Lake Mary and Longwood before arriving at the SemDems headquarters in Longwood. After the festive trek, drivers and passengers enjoyed snacks and learned other ways to remain engaged with the ongoing Democratic campaigns this fall. Some examples include knocking on doors, making phone calls and/or financial donations, passing out voter guides, and various other forms of activism.
The SemDems plan to keep rolling for the next six weeks!
