Civic Groups

American Civil Liberties Union of Central Florida. A private, non-profit, non-partisan membership organization working in courts, legislatures and communities to defend and preserve individual rights and personal freedoms granted by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The ACLU of Central Florida chapter includes Seminole County. Info here.

Friends of the Wekiva River. Since 1982 the group has worked to protect, preserve and restore the natural functions and beauty of the Wekiva River System, a designated Florida Outstanding Water, a Florida Canoe Trail, and Aquatic Preserve and a National Wild and Scenic River. Info here.

Habitat for Humanity of Seminole and Apopka. Builds new homes, rehabs existing homes and repairs older owner-occupied homes that have fallen into a state of critical disrepair, all with the goal of providing low income families with decent and affordable housing. Info here.

The League of Women Voters of Seminole County. Organized locally in 1966, the group is a strong non-partisan voice in Central Florida, advocating for public education, the environment and open local government.  Info here.

Meals on Wheels, Etc, Seminole County. Began providing home delivered meals and transportation services to seniors in Seminole County in 1973 and now offers programs such as neighborhood dining, homemaking, home chores and home weatherization to help the elderly remain in their own homes. The Mustard Seed. A furniture and clothing bank to help rebuild the lives  of families and individuals who have suffered disaster or personal tragedy by providing household furnishings and clothing. Info here.

Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida. An affiliate of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc. provides vital sexual health services and comprehensive sexuality education to women, men and teens. Info here.
